Lignum
Following on my Botanical collection I wanted to showcase the beauty of wood and that due to ever expanding deforestation around the world, it is rapidly becoming a precious material in its own right.
I deliberately kept decorative detail to a minimum so that the delicate grain and beautiful colours of the various woods take center stage.
Jewellery
AFRICAN BLACKWOOD BAREL CLASPS
The delicate black-wood encased silver barrel clasps were only possible due to the extreme hardness of this wood, allowing a 2mm thickness to the wall of the barrel and the placement of gold detail with no risk of breaking.
CUFFLINKS
I introduced a playfulness in 2 of the designs. The “button-detail” design alludes to the button displaced by the cufflink and the “screw head” design recalls manual labour that is eschewed in the corporate environment.
