ABOUT these Jewellery Pieces
During the development of this collection I needed to design a backplate for the brooches and pendants that was in keeping with their botanical theme. The silver backplate needed to be open and light, while still maintaining structural support for the wooden disc and the brooch pin.

This stylised design emerged out of a page of doodling while I was working on possible designs and it seemed a pity to put this design on the back of a brooch or pendant. I then placed the low domed wooden cabouchon in the centre of the circle of leaves, turning it into a stand-alone piece. The simplicity of this design makes it a very versatile and easy to wear piece of jewellery.

The long necklace and matching earrings evolved from this design.

Pendant

A stylised cut-out design of leaves on short stems encircles a central low dome cabouchon of wood which is 20mm in diameter. The 60mm wooden disc is unadorned at the back except for the attachment of the chain to the frame.

The unique silver chain has a total length of 53cm. The last 5 links allow for the chain length to be adjusted and a “dS” charm, suspended from the terminal link, completes the piece.

This design is shown to best advantage with the black chacate and red ivory wood.
