ABOUT these Jewellery Pieces
The Acacia is also referred to as the thorn tree or the mimosa. The Acacia depicted on my jewellery is the widespread Acacia karroo, now classified botanically as Vachellia karroo.
The small flowers have five very tiny petals, almost entirely hidden by the long stamens which are arranged in dense, globular yellow or cream-coloured clusters. Over the years a purpose has been found for every part of this tree.
In Egyptian mythology, the Acacia shared characteristics with the Tree of Life.
Pendant
Handcrafted in silver with subtle oxidation on the stem and leaves of the tree. The three dimensional cast is attached to the wooden disc by several silver pins which are discreetly covered by the silver backplate. The backplate with cut-out leaves and the “dS” logo supports and protects the wooden disc. The slightly convex disc is 60mm in diameter and has a water resistant finish.
The unique silver chain, attached to the rim of the pendant has a total length of 53cm. The last 5 links allow for the chain length to be adjusted and a “dS” charm, suspended from the terminal link, completes the piece. Wooden discs in one of the following types of wood complement this design – black chacate, wild peach, red ivory wood and silver tree.
